Something just occurred to me. Mike DeGuire has a Cobra, so he is within the scope of club members, but he is also building a FFR whatchamacallit, which is neither a Cobra, Coupe or GT40 replica. So if anyone had just a whatchamacallit, they would not be eligible to be a member of GCC, right?

Be careful here, because different manufacturers build some strange non-Fords. For instance, Superformance sells a Foose Coupe and a Grand Sport Corvette and they used to make a Low Boy and a Super-7 thing called the S-1.

Have we considered exactly where to draw the line at membership? What if someone had a VW with a Cobra body?

Humorous, but serious too.

Well Mike has sold his Cobra and now building a GTM. I think Mark decided to Grandfather over Mike due to his initial membership, his expertise (which is still needed) and we just like him (don't tell HIM that though). This is still a Cobra/GT-40 club, but exceptions I believe can be made if need be. But a VW or Fiero kit - never....:D

Good question Karl. Case by case basis, I guess. In Mike's case - a no brainer - he's in. Besides, I think he'll have a Cobra again anyway.

As far as I'm concerned Mike's in regardless of what he's got. Class guy. Class act. An asset & a credit to our organization or any other org. for that matter. Go get em MikeyD. :)

All True statements, do you even have to have a car? One of our officers does not, but dreams of one. That is OK by me!!!! I didn't think you even had to have a car to join. Clubs like this can do more to get people into the hobby than they sometimes do for those of us already in it.

Yeah MarkP is a prime example too. Great guy. Great asset to our club & he doesn't have a cobra YET! :)

This is an interesting thread...you just gotta like Cobra's in my opinion. How else can we promote having others actually get one. I recommend this site to anyone who is interested in Cobras. As a matter of fact I got more interested in purchasing one on CLub Cobra after viewing all the posts there and thier for sale area..Found mine (my wifes) there.
I had to really think about the ownership thing....I actually don't own one...just drive it and work on it. It is really my wife's(truth be known, just like all my other worldly possessions). Isn't that correct counselor?

:D Mike, I can truly say that mine is mine until T.O.D. or when she get's tired of me, whichever comes first. :D

Dave: thanks for the vote of confidence.
I have always wanted to write a book. "Mike's Rules To Live By". Content would deal with what I can do and others cannot. I.E.: I can tailgate in the fast lane so I don't have to take it off cruise, you CANNOT. and on and on. May even include some political issues such as: I don't have to pay my taxes and penalties and you do(ooooops...that one is already taken as some of our present govt administration already did that and I can't.)

My feeling on this is...as with most every club I have ever been involved with...
If you had the desire and interest to belong, and paid the dues, you were more then welcome.
When I was in the "Show me Mustang" club... a car was not needed, though I had two.
When I was in the "ST Louis Karting Association" .. racing a kart was not necessary, but I raced a shifter..
When I was a kid, I was in 4-H, but I never lived on a farm..

If they can provide substance to the club....welcome them as they will become active and maybe an owner.

Just my .02
