Thought I would provide a first hand opinion on the RNG Experience packages offered. Last year, I participated in the RNG Experience and Test & Tune. Both were $100 each. Wednesday was Test and Tune and I was able to get on the track and drive at a speed that was comfortable to me. Of course, I pushed that limit to really get a feel for how my car handles, scared myself a couple of times going in to turn 1, but came out of it safely. I just figured if I were going to spin out and hit something, this was the place to do it where safety personnel are on hand. The Test & Tune should be treated just as it states, take your car out, drive at a comfortable pace, and bring the car in for adjustments. I was able to make about 20 or so laps during this session and it really got me involved with the goings on of the actual competitor's at the track.

The RNG Experience was a paced event where an experienced driver/instructor led you around the road course. This proved to be invaluable as I learned I was blowing 3 corners of the track with my own 'line' that I established. No wonder that Austin Healey was eatin' my lunch at Test & Tune. The driver/instructor led you around at a good pace around the track on the optimum line of the track. I will remember this when I participate in the Novice division of RNG this year. The RNG Experience also allowed us three passes on the drag strip, however, that has been discontinued for 2009. Maybe they will replace it with an autocross event.

So, if this is your first RNG event, the Experience and Test and Tune for $200 will really get your feet wet and wet your appetite for more :D

I really liked the RNG Experience package as well.

The most helpful part was when the track put out the cones on the corners to visually mark the apex of the turns. That helped me so much. They didn't put those out till the second day. I would like to see those "cheater" cones there from the beginning. I think the cones would help all (real) drivers improve their times.

I also enjoyed having the instructor on hand. What would be really neat would be to have him ride with me (and others) on a few laps of personal instruction.

I think for the money, the RNG Experience package is an excellent value - but without the drags, maybe they could just add some extra laps or something.
