Replacement push button hood latches

Yes they could, but I like the old handles. I would use a cable or electric release if I was going to get rid of the handles. You going to give them a try?

I'm with Rich on this one in all cases. I like the handles, but if i was going to change it, I'd simply get rid of them with an electric release.

Just have to remember with an electric latch one needs a manuel release as well if the electric fails!

Keith, right. What I'm wondering is if I can purchase these as a replacement in the same holes as the handles making up the brackets as shown in the pic on the link. I think the handles look cheesy and like a garage door. Never really liked them.

Bringing this to the top for Taylor. Taylor, I saw you post something about not really liking the garage door handles for the hood latches. Here is an alternative I researched a while back. Requires fabricating a gusset for the pin at the rear of the hood, but, can be done. There was a member, recently passed away, that had them on his factory five.

Thanks Tim. That was what I was looking for. I was having a hard time coming up with a way to get the pin on the car.

That looks good. I like it. Do you have a photo of the hood? I'm not a fan of the garage door latches either, but they do look more original. Might have to change them before I go to paint.

I don't of the car above, but scroll to the top and see it installed on a factory five hood

I guess these can be retro fitted using the existing holes in the hood? Three different diameter escutcheons. I might measure mine and order a set. I’ve never liked the original garage handles. I always thought they looked like an afterthought.

That was my thinking Kent. On the first post with the link, I'm not sure I quite get where the pin bracket is attached to or where. Suppose it would be a custom part.

Before I seen Tim's picture, my play was to:

Glue some standoffs with #10 threaded rods to the fiberglass behind the hood opening
Fab a bracket out of a piece of angle aluminum
Attach the bracket to the standoffs, and the pin bolt to the bracket.

I think that would end up looking like the pictures on Quik Latche's website. I have a handful of those standoffs if someone what to try it.

My two cents say....”I like the current Cobra hood latches” This speaks to the character of the roadster in general....looks historic is my prospective...

Did you keep the hood hinged on the front?

Not to be a downer but my only concern would be how long its going to take $10 hood pins to corrode or tarnish! They surely are not stainless or a higher quality chrome. Some of that cheaper metal may not like your paint either!
