Anyone else having trouble with pop ups recently with the forum? At first it was so bad I couldn't do anything. I have added AD Blocker and ran Malwarebites and things are better but still getting stuff.

What Browser are you using? Internet Explorer is the worst, I highly recommend NOT to use it.
I've used Chrome for several years and it has consistently been one of the best browsers, according to what I've read and it runs much faster than IE.

I run AdBlock and Ghostery add-ons and have no pop-ups.
MalWare-Bytes and Microsoft Security Essentials are pretty good to run periodically too.
Also run CCleaner and TFC.exe (Temp File Cleaner) to clean all the temp files.
I recently found and started running Advance SystemCare 8 (Free version) and it does a Registry, Shortcut, and Junk file cleanup as a final maintenance routine.

Hope this helps

I use Google Chrome for a Browser. I'll try some of the recommendations you all gave. It seems my problems are mostly with this forum all of a sudden.

Mark should I buy the Malware-Bites or is the free version ok?

OK Ghostery is installed but I'm still have Malware I think. I get redirected to other pages that say I have something wrong with my computer and they want me to call or click here. I think it is PC support.

Ok just ran CCleaner and I got here with no problems this time. Thanks guys.

Tony...I'm not Mark but the free version of Malware Bytes Anti Malware software works well. It is comparable to CCleaner. I use it in addition to Avast Pro Anti Virus and what one doesn't catch in the way of Trojans or malware...the other does.
The pop ups you describe are definitely malware. Run routine scans of your computer weekly and you can avoid a lot of such malicious programs.

Thanks Kerry! Things are definitely working better now. I use McAfee Anti Virus now, would the Avast Pro replace that?

Yes...
I have used McAfee previously and did not like it. I tried Norton and liked it even less. I have now used Avast Pro for several years and it seems to do everything I need. However I still use the free version of Malware Bytes to compliment it.
No complaints...and I used to have 5-10 attacks per week. The two programs have worked well.
However the biggest improvement came after dumping Internet Explorer and going to Firefox.

I've used the FREE version of AVG for 15 + years, and have never had an issue of any kind besides Windows update trashing things. You have to make sure you download the free version, and don't install ANYTHING but the core AV.
