Politics/Politics/Politics

It's my thread

and ya know what? I say Hijack away. Besides who better to hi-jack then BBG? You go girl. Have some fun, express your opinions & hi-jack to your hearts content in any thread I start cause I'm all about being nice to each other, kind to one another & forgiving of one another. Now I've gone & hi-jacked my own thread. Well I guess the hi-jack police are just gonna have to throw me in hi-jack jail.

I agree with BBG. I try to live by my grandparents philosiphy (sp). I only pay cash for toys and unnecessary items. It makes me cringe when I hear friends re-mortaging their home to buy a 50K GT500, or other toys. While I love my toys and don't want to give them up, I cannot dream of putting my family and families home at risk for a cool car to drive. I hope I'm not offending anyone, this is just the code I live by. If times get hard, it's nice to know I can sell them at any price to protect the things that are the most important to me.

I have had a friend tell me that they can afford it (by re-financeing their home and using their equity for a GT500). My response was if you have to re-morgage your home to buy a car....you cannot afford it.

It can be done, but people don't want to wait for anything, I enjoy having our daily drivers, (2) toys and no car payment.

I saved for 10 years before I could pull the trigger and buy the car of my dreams. I feel this is part of what is wrong with our current situation. Everyone wants everything now.

How many people do you know who got out of school and bought big homes they couldn't afford? I know several. Everyone wants exactly what their parents have or better, but yet don't realize that it took their parents 30+ years to achieve what they have. My wife and I made sure we bought a meger enough home that if one of us looses our job, we can still pay all of our bills. Of all my friends, I only know one other person with that mindset, and he is a banker! I really am scared to see what the final outcome of all this will be.

BBG you are right, those of us who played by the rules are going to be paying for everyone else, and they will still come out better in the end. At least I can sleep at night.

A commune...now there is a thought

Could be just like America was before the white settlers came and messed up a great thing.
The women cook, clean and take care of the men. The men hunt and fish and take naps.
JOKE>>
I have always felt that people run for political office for two reasons:
Personal vendetta
Personal gain

Here/Here

Well said my friend CraigR. The spelling police (Paul?) may have to pay you a visit though. :D

A poster in my bankers office always intrigued me:
"Live within your means. Even if you have to borrow to do it"
Seems to be where we are today.
Those of us that play by the "rules" just didn't really know the rules I guess.
