Thanks for all of the thoughts and well wishes.
The first thing I told them when they offered the position was thank you very much, I need a few days to discuss with my family and I will let you know by Monday. They were understanding.
It has taken them 3 months from when I applied until today, so I know this position has been open for a while.
I am a car nut, it's in my blood, what can I do? Of all the makes out there, I would say Honda ranks up there at the top for my likes, etc. I've owned 3 of their automobiles, 2 motorcycles, and my father also owned 3 of their autos in the past, one of which they sold to me!
I've been looking to get out of the "traditional practice" of architecture for some time...and this is a owner's rep/facility manager position...so there you go.
Moving sucks, everyone in my family agrees on that. I don't know much about central Ohio, but it didn't seem much different that western Illinois (the areas over the river from St. Louis) when I was there. Columbus is the capital...and London is very close.
With the internet I have made more friends in this club and on the factory five forum that it's very easy to reach out and stay in touch.
Tough decisions. They made it easier by offering me about 15% more than I make today, and paying for all moving expenses, closing costs, rent for 6 months, etc...I could go on but you get the point.
I hope nobody thinks we are possibly leaving to take the easy way out of this economic mess. My wife has been without job since August and it is not easy sitting around wondering if you are next.
