You gents may already know this but there is an effort under way to build a new drag strip in Lincoln County up around Eolia, MO. just above Troy. It is being called MidAmerica Raceway Park. We have been hearing about this track for last 6 months, and I also hear they have a deal on all the earth moving needed - all they pay for is the fuel - some sort of heavy equipment training facility up there and labor will be at 000 cost. There is also 2 sides to Dover 1. Dover motorsports ( thats the race tracks ) 2. Dover amusments ( they are also into casino,s ) these 2 got a devorce - tired of dumping money into racing now with the way the economy is.
 
I think the training outfit may be LECET - Laborers Union & Contractors training facility - they pour concrete in St. Louis and Eastern MO. Neat outfit. Great training facility. That would be a an awesome deal if it was true.
 
What are the chances of a drag strip in that location being profitable? Slim & none. Not a large enough population base to support it. If I was a wealthy investor I would say thanks but no thanks.
 
You must remember that jerry bickle race cars are just around the corner - gateway was profitable just from the small races and test n tune nights - when a big race comes to town like nhra - you turn the track over to them and they call the shots and you make your money AFTER THEY TAKE THEIRS. If the land is priced right and alot of the work is for price of fuel, they may make it plus its in missouri and my not be taxed to death. Taxes in your state dave just plain suck.
 
Lots of things in my state suck. Mostly our politicians/corruption. :(:rolleyes: Sorry for the OT sojourn. Back on topic. I hope it works if they try it.
 
From what I have heard there is already alot of public opposition from the noise issues.
 
Land owner next to new site is the stumbling block, has lots of $ and vowded to stop it because of traffic and noise - said if built will file a injunction and have entrances blocked. He has some political pull to get this done also. There is a buyer for gateway and now the land will be sold with it - stumbling block is back taxes - this came from good source in madison tax office. Buyer is a nhra pro-stock team owner and driver in the oil industry. Was told not to let name out or would not get anymore info on this deal. Also 1 person from st louis would be front man on this deal.

Latest news - state and locals want the back due taxes and now that dover motorsports has nothing to do with this track a deadline was given to the land owners to sell and pay back taxes or they lose all and track will go to auction - kinda looks like justice to the greedy they where holding out to sell and lease out 1 section of land - had 2 takers, 1 has bad recorded of paying ( check out moroso investment partners - memphis still on hold ) the other said purchase only no lease. So now they sit and wait for the auction and suspect they will get for less $$$. Memphis motorsports park purchased by moroso investment partners still has no schedule, Looks like their history of payment for work done by bids has caught them. Sure hope something happens soon.
