Moving - Day 2:
The movers have finished packing all of our belongings. They did the inventory before lunch, and then asked me what the weather forecast was for the afternoon. I looked at the radar and it said rain to start at 12PM - for once it was correct. They called it a day at 3PM due to rain. I was able to fully remove and cut up the wood ramp we installed on our house. This was a condition of us selling (more below)...

If the weather holds for tomorrow they may have us loaded up, but most likely it will be Saturday. The cars go in last oddly enough. But it makes sense, they have measured both cars and their height and will first load the really heavy and tall items into the truck first, and then build the platform decks above where the cars go, and then fill that area. Cars go in last to avoid dropping anything on them. They will be using a flatbed to transfer my roadster since the wheel base is so short and ride height is still very low in their opinion. Works for me.

Another bit of good news, we got our house under contract yesterday! The price is not right, but it is close enough to where we wanted to be, and in this market, we knew we would be taking a loss. The plus is it will no longer be a weight on our shoulders, and in less than a month we won't have to maintain it from out of state. The buyer already has his place in St. Petersn under contract, and looks to be a solid buyer.

I'll try to take some pictures of the loading and post them over the weekend.

FYI - we are staying at the Drury Inn out in Chesterfield. Nice place, decent price, and the happy hour was nice and included with the rate! ;)

Wow, sounds like it won't take the 4 days after all. Was thinking last night how you feel leaving the house you've worked so hard on. I remember when Linda and I moved from our first house. Lot's of memories there and the deck I built on the back of the house is still there some 20 years later. But, the new memories have far outweighed the old and the new job I took 19 years ago has worked out just fine. Good luck Scotty, it will be an exciting time in the years to come.

Congrats Scott. When you get out there, post an address I can send the tach adaper too.

Sounds like it's going as well as you might hope for. Easy for me to say since I'm not hauling stuff around and cutting up ramps. Good news on the contract, hope it all goes smooth for you. As long as you are at the Drury, maybe Honda will buy you dinner at Stony River :D. Good Luck with the rest of the move.

I'm glad things are working out for you and your family. It's great that you have a contract on your house already. Make sure you send us your address when you get settled and I'll mail your tubing bender back to you. I'm going to miss you, but I'm sure we'll run into each other again. Maybe at London next year. Keep us updated on your progress.

Moving day 4

It's done. The guys finished loading everything in just after Noon today, and they hit the road to Ohio. We called ahead and our new community is going to let them in on Monday so that they can get started with the unload without us. Michelle drew out a map on the floor plan of where things generally need to go, and I gave the driver permission to take my roadster around the Indy 500 for a time trial...just kidding.

Anyway, I did take a few pictures to capture the loading of my project into the moving truck. Quite the ordeal, but it went smoothly. Paul (our driver/mover) has done this a few times before (it showed).

Here it is waiting for the flatbed tow to arrive:

And going onto the flated (Michelle commented that I have less than a mile on it and it's already being towed)...hope this is a uncommon sight for this car:

More to come...

Here's another of the car in the truck (watch your head):

And a couple of my daily driver tucked in at the back behind the roadster:

We got the house all cleaned and the touch up painting done before 1:00 and we were out of there. It never looked better...oh well, hope the next owner appreciates all the work we did to the place.

Talk to you guys on the flip side (and in a different time zone).

We are now in Columbus, Ohio at the new place. Pretty nice overall. The drive was a pain in the arsinic with the trailer, it didn't want to go over 65 mph and we had to stop a lot for potty breaks...Oh, and we averaged about 9 mpg pulling that big trailer. That's without the horse in it. Ouch.

My Factory Five is still in the moving van, it was raining very hard here today so they decided to wait until the morning. They will do the flat bed trick again and tow it up to the garage since it's not licensed / insured, etc. The movers are having to use a smaller U-Haul to transfer everything too and then bring that to our condo.

Fun fun fun...

Thanks buddy. Hope to see you guys at LCS. We drove by the exit sign for London on the way in today (along I-70). The sign said 6 miles to London, and the GPS said we were 21 miles from where we are now living...so that means about a 30 mintue highway cruise to LCS for me! Just need to get the c***a wrapped up and registered before then. Well I'll be there if it's not registered just the same.

The hotels are at exit 91, Hilliard Rome rd. & Renner east of St James Lutheran Church (on W St James Lutheran Way of all places) so you should be even closer to the main gathering point. Good luck getting settled in and started in the new job.

Re: Moving

I will certainly miss you guys too. You were very gracious and friendly. Your St. Louis Cobra family will miss you, and I am sure the Ohio Cobra Club will give you the warm welcome you deserve.
