Posted the other day in the new member area and as promised, here's my latest art work. I went off of one of Mrphotoman's photos as reference to draw this particular piece, as seen hanging in the one photo. He takes such spectacular shots and allows me to use them for reference.
These are done with prismacolor premium art pencils. Each piece usually takes about 60-80 hours or so. It's my full time profession, so I work on these just about all day/night. Sometimes I get lost in them and forget what time it is! I have a very photo realistic style and capture the smallest of details as accurately as I can. For example, reflections on the body, reflections on the rims, sun spots, shadows, pins, rivets etc...
I don't race cars, but do race bikes at gateway with MCRA (how I met mrphotoman as he was shooting our event). I'd like to think that I'm probably one of the few motorsports artists who actually does the sport. Been doing art work for many years and will be donating pieces for various charity auctions and to a few motorsports museums. Also have a few pieces hanging at various dealers and sold various pieces throughout.
You may notice some vertical lines due to my scanner. It was a 3 piece scan to show the art piece. I've found that I can't replicate it with my camera, and for me to send these for professional image capture costs a small fortune and a lot of time. So, next best thing is my scanner! It still doesn't look anywhere near as good as it does in person, but gives an idea.
Been doing art of mostly AMA, GP, World SuperBike, and other amature racers such as myself, but will be getting more involved in cars again, classic and race.
Here's some photos of the work and a link to a photo of me at our last event a few days after the Run 'N Gun series. The shot of me was apex of turn 7 at Gateway...the GT 40 was I believe coming out of the last corner onto the straight...I think.
Please let me know what you think! thanks!
