Fitted Ball Caps

I have never worn a fitted ball cap, only those with the adjustable backs. I keep them pretty tight when cruising to avoid blow-offs.

To those who have fitted caps, what's your experience with them staying on while driving? Good or Bad?

Is there a particular type to buy? I see some are "flex-fit" and others are sized as hats.

I need to replace a hat and don't want to buy a special one only to find out it isn't user-friendly with our cars

Typically they would not be good to wear in the cars. Fitted hats are made to be comfortable, which, means they aren't very tight. The flex fit for sure would blow off. I have driving hats and, once I get there hats :D
 
I have a fitted cap and it does stay on better than the others, but for me only hats with a chin strap will stay on past 60 mph.
 
Check out Stormy Kromers. They were invented by a train engineer be used his old baseball hats kept blowing off when he stuck his head out the window. They are big in Wisconsin. I've never had mine blow off yet... ��

I used a cycling cap. Lightweight, thin cotton, one size elastic headband, short bill that wouldn't catch the wind. It wont keep your head warm on the cold days, but that's what balaclavas are for. Gene
 
It just depends on the cap. I have some that stay on all the time, at all speeds, and some that just will not at all. They both may look the same, but it has to be how the bill is shaped. Seems if the bill is flatter, it's gone off my head.
 
I just turn mine around before hitting the on-ramp, or when I think I may drop the hammer...

I usually wear a visor on the summer, and most have a Velcro closure. I set it where I want and have my wife sew it together.
