Recent reports in the national TV news media have pointed the finger at legitimate gun dealers in Arizona for being responsible for the sale of (mis-described) "assault rifles" to Mexican drug cartel members. When a border patrol officer was killed with a weapon traced to a Phoenix gun dealer the ATF began concentrated efforts to restrict legal weapon sales by legitimate dealers in Arizona to "prevent further bloodshed".
Problem is...the ATF was responsible for the dealers making these shady sales...against the dealer's own written objections....!
Sen. Charles Grassley of Iowa has obtained copies of the email correspondence between the criticized dealers and the ATF that corroborate the dealers claims. Yet the ATF claims no such sting operation existed.....one described in their own correspondence and internal memos as " operation gunwalker".
Why can't the TV news media get the stories straight....and question the ATF when they obviously lie about their actions, putting legitimate gun dealers in jeopardy? At least these stories are being reported by on-line news services...but when did you see any of this reported on TV via the evening news...?
Even Obama has admitted that mistakes were made...but the ATF still denies any responsibility for their part in putting rifles in the hands of drug cartel killers.

Anyone who believes the ATF has cleaned up their act since Waco and Ruby Ridge... is not paying attention.
