Yikes, a space frame Roadster Mk 5, WOW!!!

That is an assume frame! More interior & transmission room, how did they do that??
Looks a lot like the Gen3 Coupe frame, super stiff.
And that hardtop is pretty cool too.

Crap, they've fit a Godzilla motor in one. Good thing I won't have any money to buy one 🤔😳🙄😒😁

I want the Type R
Godzilla motor = truck engine. :cautious: even Dave said it. Who wants all that weight up front.
I know someone that is getting one very soon, so I'll have a look to see how cool it is

From us period correct guys, they are going to get a lot of negative press about the move away from the ladder frame. Not a cobra anymore

Like the idea of more room in the cockpit. Not sure you need godzilla motor in it, but I've always heard there's no substitute for cubic inches. Interesting.

You're not going to autocross with a Godzilla up front.
Paul, I think you'll be wrong on that point. Everyone on the FFR forums are chomping at the bit to get one.

The new Mrk5 frame

Lots of updates to the frame and various other areas (drop trunk, improved under-door and footbox protection, hand-brake re-location to tranny tunnel top, larger rollbars (1.75"?). FFR album

I think most FFR buyers are building HotRods that looks like a Cobra, some are more original looking than others.

Never was a Cobra. Always a Factory Five Roadster.

I didn’t think the Hurricane was a round tube frame like the original. Most of the replicas aren’t.
Factory Five has always been a more substantial frame than the others IMO. I think this makes it stronger and safer. I would trade up.

Tony, you're correct. Most replicas, including Hurricane, use a square/rectangular tube. Factory Five was the exception. The round tube requires less reinforcement for a ladder frame style. Most rectangular tube styles were as strong or stronger but required a lot more bracing.

Factory Five is leaving the round tube and going to a space frame. No doubt their new frame is stronger but again, the purists are going to piss and moan about it. I've seen a number of negative comments on Facebook and the forums.

Only a couple of replicas used a round-tube copy of the original frame - and they were not highly successful, partially due to cost and poor marketing.

No one is ever 100% happy.
