Just wondered if any member of the club had a car carrier they would be willing to let another member (me) rent.

I have one in the hometown I grew up in I can use (1.25 hours away from my home), which I used to tow a 1997 Mustang back from Chicago. However, If I could borrow (read rent) one from someone closer, I would love to do that.

My tow vehical is a 2003 Ford Explorer (tows cars perfectly) But U-haul will not let you pull there trailer with an Explorer, due to all the law suits over the tires a few years back.

My body should be done in the next 2-3 weeks, and I want to tow the chassis down to pick it up.

Thanks,

Craig,

It's not a car hauler, but I have a tandom axle 16' trailer with ramps that I used to pick up our car in Warham.

The major disadvantage is that once on the trailer, it is too narrow to open the doors. If you don't mind going in and out via the top...it will work. One thing needed is that the ramp are welded angle iron and need 4' lengths of 2x8 to allow driving a car on and off. With a tractor or other big tire equipment...you just use the angle iron.

It's down at our farm in Viburnum MO...so it may not save you any driving. But It's yours to use.

It has current plates and new tires all around. It is 2" ball with flat 4 pin connector without trailer brakes.

It tows very well at speed. On the trip back from Warham with the car on the back, towing with our 1 ton E-350 the GPS indicated our top speed for the trip was 104 MPH...

LMK if it will help you.

As I recall, Kerry's trailer is pretty much the same as the one I took to Murrill's to pick my car up. No need to worry about opening a door if you put them in the truck like I did :D. Notice the ramps back on the front of the trailer after it was loaded and tied down. I probably should have put boards on them but did'nt and don't recall it being a problem.
