Decided to start in to my foray in to beer making this past weekend. Got this kit:

Craig, I think I told you it was an all grain kit, but it's not. So, now it has to ferment for 5-7 days. Then, will need to transfer to a glass carboy and add sugar. I will then bottle it a week later, and it says to store it for 3 - 4 weeks in a cool dry place before drinking. Will see how this goes, then think about a kegging system (will need to put a lock on it though) More pic's below

Add malt extract and bittering hops (although that is the bag of sugar in my Left hand)

After aerating the wort, time to pitch the yeast

My friend made this recipe before. If you like an unfilter wheat, this is very similar. Gonna try a clone recipe next maybe. See how this one does I guess. Makes 5 gallons of beer. Now, since my friend had all of the equipment and has the bottles (which I will buy from him at a discounted price :D) it so far has cost me $37, with the bottles $65 about $1.22 per 12 oz. bottle. Next batch, I will not need to purchase bottles. Any takers for a free 24oz bottle of beer?

Follow Instructions

If you decide to bottle it, make sure you follow the instructions, explicitly.

Bottle caps will stick in the floor joists and sheeting when they explode off the bottle. Voice of Experience

:D:D Yeah, we are using the bottle tops that flip off and attach to the bottle. Thanks for the head's up. You still have your brewmaking equipment?

:D:D haven't seen the movie yet, but have seen that commercial :D

Tim, Let me know how it goes, I've been making wine for years, and am about to make the jump. The only thing that has held me back was the carbonation. But if you keg it, that is easily accomplished.
Now that my basement kitchen/bar is 90% complete, I'm ready to give it a try. (The wife insists on a kegerator through the wall to the bar, she's a keeper!)

Hefeweisen..... A great choice!

Well, had my first bottle and a half of my beer last night.

My brother-In-Law and his friends have taken their beer experiments to the extremes. If you need advice on something, I can hook you up with some people.

I like the white 5 gal pail you are using to mix ingrediants. Was it tractor hydralic fluid, gear lube or 20w-50w that was in the pail? I usually take my empty pails and use them for storing metal parts in, i.e. maybe a 9" ford locker.
Wife uses them for transporting goat dung for her flowers.
I do hope you washed it well...if not maybe that is why the beer goes down so easy.It is lubricated.

Tim,

Let me know if you need help with the Kegerator. I got the key, CO2 and the setup for around 200 bucks. My Heffweisen is currently brewing.

I have peach wine ready to bottle. Going to do a batch of apple this fall, I really like to make wine and have been making it for years, but don't care to drink it.

That is how I got into beer making.

I'm sure my wife would help you with the wine drinking. Did you get the same Hefewiesen kit from Midwest?

Mike - you've revealed my secret ingredient :D

Started my Honey Bee Ale tonight. Will take 5 - 7 weeks now to drinking stage IF I did everything right   :D

Started my secondary fermentation today. Got a specific gravity reading of 1.010, which equates to about 4% ABV. Not as strong as the last batch, but may taste better. Now, waiting 10 days to bottle, then, will have to wait another 7 - 10 days for it to carbonate in the bottles for drinking.
