Autocross with Mid America Cobra Club

Tim, thanks for all the info. My registration has been mailed in and I'm getting a room today with a second queen bed in case someone wants to share. Did you set up a block of rooms or anything? If not, that's fine. I just wanted to make sure before seting anything up. Thanks again.

I went ahead and booked my room. With AAA discount I got it for $174.94. I now offically have a spare bed.

I did not block out any rooms. And to further clarify, we will travel out Friday the 12th, run the Autocross on the 13th, and head home Saturday evening so we're home for Mother's Day. :D

Thanks Tim for the clear and concise 411....after review I have decided to hang back on this one....sounds like fun, be safe and enjoy....I am out.

Video of last year's event Mike took of me. I know, looks slow, but, it wasn't in the car :D

I will be there. I need to call Jim D today to make sure he's still in. I thought it would be 5 or 6 of us:
Me
Keith W
Rick H
Jim D
Dan T (?)
Mark P

So, whaddya mean, No one else participating?

I Txt'd Wayne on Friday. May snuck up on me and I didn't get my registration mailed in. (I've had it filled out for weeks)
He said no problem, just bring it with me and hand it in when I get there.

My hotel room is confirmed and I'm picking up a new helmet Wednesday evening.
I think Rich is still joining me.

Looking forward to this event! Should be fun!

At this moment, I'm in. Got some things sorted out over the weekend. Just going downa checklist today and Wednesday. We're picking up Ash on Thursday night in Columbia, then heading home. I took off Friday and figured i'd get up there early for my first trailer pull for a good distance.

Dan texted me some questions, and I thought it would be a good idea to answer his questions here as well as provide some additional info.

What to bring:
- Helmet
- Shoes with short laces, or driving shoes
- Driving gloves if your hands get sweaty, it's helpful to have these
- Long sleeve shirt - Although they probably won't require it, better to have an not need than need and not have.
- Jeans, again, better to have them.
- Tools - bring what you think you'll need. Are there repairs you generally make, then bring the tools to fix it. You don't need to bring the toolbox, as most repairs will take up so much time, you won't be able to get back on the track anyway. So, one bag of screwdrivers, standard sockets and wrenches will suffice. There will be plenty available, so, if you don't have room, don't worry about it.
- Tire pressure gauge
- No need to bring a pancake compressor, a regular plug in to the cig plug will suffice. You will only be inflating or deflating a few pounds.
- Don't forget a folding chair.
- A small cooler with water and favorite drink(s)
- A change of clothes for the ride home made me feel better. Last year it was substantially hotter than it will be Saturday.
- If you can fit a bicycle in, bring it as it's quite a hike over to the bathroom. I plan on bringing my 'pit' bike and you're more than welcome to it too

That's all I can think of. Make sure you perform the following PRIOR to loading up:
- Fill up with gas - You can bring gas if you want, but, I doubt if you little blocks will need any. I plan to bring 5 gallons with me.
- Get the car in the air and do a visual inspection of shock attachments, brake calipers, and any other necessary bolts to make your ride less exciting :-)
- Torque your lug nuts
- Check your oil level
- Check your coolant level. You can bring some, but, unless you have a leak, you won't need any.
- Brake fluid - fill before leaving
- Brake pads - have at least 50% left on your pads.
- Empty the car/trunk of ALL loose items. You won't need your garage door opener there. :p :D

I plan to leave earlier now as I have to stop in Columbia, MO to do some work on the way out. So, I will not be at QT at 3:30pm. I intend to leave my house around noon and arrive in Blue Springs by 6:30 - 7pm. We will meet the MACC at Twin Peaks for dinner near the hotel, so I will probably unhook my trailer so 5 of us can ride over in my truck.

Rick - don't forget to bring the trophy, I have the nameplate Skip made.

Be safe everyone, see you at the hotel.

Sorry, forgot to mention we had originally planned to meet at the QT in Wentzville next to I-70 around 3:30, but, no reason y'all can't meet earlier to get ahead of the traffic. Where we are staying , Blue Springs, there's not much traffic there, so, wouldn't worry about that. Just be there by 6:30. I think Rich and Mark plan to leave Rich's house around 4pm

Sounds good Tim. Thanks for the rundown on what to bring.
I'm bringing my good digital air-gauge and battery powered air pump, everyone is welcome to use.
Weather looks really good!

If you all will be meeting at QT, please let Jim Dooley know. Thanks.

I had a blast. Hoping nothing too bad is damaged on the car. Got some pinging from the passenger side bank. It was a lot of fun and very informative. I have a lot more confidence in handling the car in the dry. In the wet is an entirely different thing. Missed you up there. Rick and Tim pointed out my trailer tires were under inflated too, so Rick took pity on my and helped me out and showed me what to look for. That was the farthest I'd ever pulled the trailer. Can't wait for next year. I have a small list of things to work on now so I have a focus for more tinkering. :) Rich is going to have his car ready for next year. There were some crazy people driving over there including a young guy with a coyote engine and ABS brake with Nitto 01 track tires that just attacked the course. I learn as much watching others as I did driving almost. There were a couple of exciting moments for most of us, but unfortunately they had us all in the same group so we couldn't take pics or video. I think Tim is going to be getting some from Wayne.
