I have been talking with Tom about this subject, but now that I am done I thought I would share it with the group. About 15 years ago I built my AR with a freefloat handguard and a Wilson combat 16" SS bull barrel. I wanted to shave some weight off it, move to a Wilde chamber and extend the handguard as far out as I could. I went to a Midway Stoner 16" SS fluted barrel, a 15" UTG Keymod handguard and a low profile gas block. It took about 3 hours to do the swap only because I had to do some grinding on the handguard to clear the upper receiver. If it had fit perfect I could have had it done in less than an hour. I think it turned out pretty good. Still need a riser to lift the scope up a bit and buy a compensator. So now I have a vice block and armorers wrench to lend out to anyone who needs to use it.
