I didn’t think the Hurricane was a round tube frame like the original. Most of the replicas aren’t.
Factory Five has always been a more substantial frame than the others IMO. I think this makes it stronger and safer. I would trade up.
I don’t think a 9” is worth the expense and effort. The 8.8 is plenty strong for these light cars. I would freshen up and fix what you have. Depending on motor and trans a 3:73 might be much. Most of us are running 3:27, 3:31 or 3:55.
Great picnic! Probably one of the best in recent history. Good turn out. Weather was great. Food was delicious. And several new people. Thanks to everyone that made it happen.

I think you can make the U-Hall trailer work. I did a few times. If you use homemade wood ramps screw them together and device a way to hook them to the metal ramps. That way you can’t spin them out from under you. Go slow and have someone watch you go up.
