I would drive up to tech with your helmet off. Slump down in your seat as much as possible. Get out while they inspect the car. Shouldn't be a problem but you never know.

I don't think you can buy a helmet that is not dot approved. Date code is what they will be looking for.

Just post up when you will be working on it and you will probably have more mechanics at your door than what you care to have!
