Well, after two years of learning to drive a Miata and not really "feeling" it, and thanks to Paul, I found the 2nd version of Orange Crush up near Chicago. After talking to Frank, the owner, we worked out a deal. Spec's:
  • Kit ordered and received in 2009. Roller in 9 months, painted in 3 and on the road in 2010.
  • This is a MKIII #7006
  • The Builder did a re-build of a small block 302. I spoke to him and he said he didn't do anything special to the internals. New rings, seals, etc..
  • Rear is an 8.8 Ford out of a '94 Donor Mustang with 3:08 gears (yes, I plan to swap to 3:55's at some point)
  • Transmission is out of the same donor and is a T5
  • Manual brakes and steering currently.
  • 17" Halibrand look a like wheels
  • 275/40 in the rear and 245/45 in the front - Kuhmo Ecsta - The tires are original to the build, so they will be swapped out sooner than later.
The builder only drove the car 3,600 miles in 9 years. The 2nd owner of the car owned it for 4 years and put on 400 miles  The car has a little over 4,000 miles on it now. There are some leaks and seeping, but, I wonder if those will go away with some driving. I know many of you were here Sunday to welcome me back and some others saw it Tuesday. I look forward to your input on my changes/mods I need to make.

Thanks again Regan for offering your lift to inspect the car.
