These events started popping up on my Facebook Timeline, and, as I found out, Steven is registered for Event #3. I just finished registering for it, and as you see at this LINK, Yes, it's on a Tuesday and Yes, it's during the day. So, I would think limited entries, but, you never know. Steven and I registered in the Intermediate class....I may be overconfident in my driving skills, but, I'll have Steven to follow :D

Anyway, $170 for the track time, $15 for the SCCA weekend Membership. IF you plan to run more of these, then the yearly membership is $85 solo, $105 Family. See this LINK for more info.

Hope more will join us!

I'd like to do it but have to work the nightshift before it. I'll take a look at vacation and see if I can do anything.

Drivers,

Reminder: this is coming up soon around 3 weeks on 14 June (Tuesday). Registrations ends 10 June. Come join the fun!

Sign up link. For SCCA PDE Event #3

Per Tom Eaton (STL PDE Co-Chair) - convertible cobra's are required to have a roll bar and arm restraints; if its a hardtop neither of these apply.

See you on track (y)

Neither of those safety requirements were needed in Topeka btw. At next meeting I'll talk about my experience at Topeka

FYI: Predicted temp 104F (real feel 110F)
Yep...gonna be hot next Tuesday. Especially for the drivers! Most of us won't get there until around 5pm or later and will hang in the covered pits. Maybe I'll throw in a large fan to help with air circulation.

Humidity was low today, but hot. To be honest, wasn't that bad though. Had 4 good sessions and improved over each session. Steven was quickest in his new car at 1:18, then Tony at 1:19 and me at 1:21. Stevens car is beautiful and once broke in, that car and Steven will be really fast. Tony learned a lot and improved his times as well. A few pics from the SCCA photographer..

trackday feedback (after reflecting for a couple of days):
the cobra performed great on its inaugural run. no weird pulls to the left or right during heavy braking (although I was braking a little early to try and get a feel for what the car wanted or how it was going to behave). sitting slightly to the left helped heel/toe. stock rear view mirror is pointless and the aftermarket mirror was too high; adjusted it (lowered) when I got home so I can see out the rear but now takes up a little of my visual view out the windshield. the top harnesses were too short (forgot to adjust; didn't touch since I picked up the car) so it was pulling up on the lap belts and kept coming off the hans device which left me without support (heavy leaning) in T3 and T5 which made heel/toe a challenge especially in T5. Fuel starvation (happening every lap) was a real issue in T5 with a 1/4 or less tank left. Cobra felt very stable in T7 carousel (~85mph) and pretty confident it can do more when pushed (goal is 90-95 mph). Cobra suspension was a little soft for my liking in T3 and T5; front was still sitting/collapsed late when starting to apply throttle thus pushing on exits. With higher spring rates it should keep the front up and help with more responsive/directional steering. If it starts to develop oversteer I'll stiffen the front sway and/or lower the rear ride height. I've always had earplugs for the mustang/camaro but never wore them, this is the first time I noticed, sought and wore the earplugs. Have to figure out a way to keep the Garmin action cam cable attached and not disconnect itself from its weight. Garmin Catalyst seems like a useful tool; reviewed the data and computer generated opportunities to improve. Had to call my builder to find out where the key to the gas cap was after returning because I couldn't open it at the gas station (embarrassing). Heat definitely got to me (didn't affect others as much) even with drinking a bunch of gatorades. Still a lot to learn about the cobra, it's characteristics, and adjusting my driving style to what the car likes. Thankful for the club and its members for the continued support during the waiting and finally starting this driving journey :) (y)
